He underwent his internship in Penang General Hospital where he did rotations in all the essential departments required for family medicine. Then he became a medical officer in the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Department in Penang General Hospital.

After completing his compulsory district hospital service, Dr. Diwagaran came back to practice at Penang Maternity Hospital. He has vast experience in managing antenatal, postnatal, gynaecology, and other general surgery cases. Dr. Diwagaran practiced for 4 years and was a registrar and senior medical officer in the O&G Department.
